As we hinted in November it is now confirmed that Brittany Ferries are bringing back MV Barfleur to the Poole-Cherbourg service. The first sailing from Poole to Cherbourg will be on 28 February 2011.  There will be one sailing each way during the quiet season, with increased frequency in the summer.
The Barfleur was withdrawn at the beginning of 2010, as it was said to be making a loss, but Brittany Ferries have been amazed at the campaign by former passengers and freight drivers to bring her back.
Brittany Ferries will continue to operate a high-speed service from Poole to Cherbourg, but many customers prefer the reliability and facilities on board the Barfleur.
The viability of the service will be reviewed at the end of September, so we urge everyone planning to make a trip to France in 2011 to make a booking on the Barfleur to ensure she continues on the route.
